The Moodie Report has arrived in Dubai and the big day is nearly upon us.
On Saturday morning the bus will arrive at the Al Bustan Rotana hotel at the ungodly hour of 6a.m. to pick up the runners in this year’s Miles for Smiles fun run and take them to the course at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
Some 90 minutes later, over 75 runners of all shapes, sizes, speeds and nationalities will set out on their own private test of endurance (10k or 5k). They will be bound by two common factors – all belong to the travel retail industry and all are putting themselves through the pain to raise money for a good cause, cleft charity The Smile Train.
Already nearly US$35,000 has been raised, enough to fund cleft operations on 140 children in the emergent world.
If you have not donated to this year’s Miles for Smiles you can still do so – simply click on the Miles for Smiles icon on our home page at www.TheMoodieReport.com and hit ‘Donate Now’ when you see The Smile Train site open.
Any sum helps, and I promise you that every single Dollar will put an extra spring in the step of all the runners on Saturday morning.
Isn’t it fantastic that we can come together as an industry and do something like this? All the runners are very busy people, few of them run or train regularly. They’ve all got themselves into some sort of condition (I’ll wait until the end of Saturday’s race to describe mine) because they want to make a difference.
Please throw a few Dollars their way and you too will make a difference.
